1. Significance of new products in your industry?
Bio-Organic Catalyst, Inc. has created and patented a novel and completely
unique method of purifying and treating water, soils and other substrates
that is totally safe for the environment. Bio-Organic Catalyst, Inc.’s
bio-organic catalysts (BOCs) are an entirely new and unique line of products
and, most importantly, a new product category of biochemistry. BOCs provide
capabilities that integrate solubilization (physical), oxidation (chemical),
and catalysis (biological) characteristics (S - O - C). BOCs are not enzymes,
bacteria, or oxidants. BOCs are liquid organic catalysts, completely safe
for human, animal, and marine life.

2. Competitive advantage of new products in
your industry?
BOCs product formulations perform multiple positive functions, and are
not only non-toxic, they are biologically enhancing. BOCs’ ability to
increase dissolved oxygen and gas transfer rates, at the same or lower
energy levels, and accelerate biodegrading, provides the solution to fundamental
chronic maintenance and operational needs universal to all cleaning and
wastewater treatment applications worldwide. BOCs improve worker safety
and quality of life for communities, eliminating complaints about odors,
transforming the conditions that create odors, and providing critical
attributes for meeting the purification of our water resources.
In contrast, although chemical oxidation agents are widely used and may
provide good utility; they are detrimental to biological processes and
therefore unable to provide the complete life cycle optimization of BOCs
in environmental waste management. Biological additives can provide more
specialized benefits, such as when indigenous biological media may need
seeding. However, as currently used, the effectiveness of biological additives
can be limited, potentially harmful, and do not significantly impact the
underlying environmental biological vitality. BOCs work from a "supply
side" approach where both chemical and biological reactions are enhanced
through the functionality of the integrated attributes of BOCs. Waste
treatment and water purification are then harmonized, resulting in less
overall chemical usage, optimization of wastewater treatment within existing
facility infrastructure, and better discharge quality.
In every wastewater facility, industrial manufacturer, food processor
and server, hotel/resort or hospitality location, office building, school,
and hospital, harsh chemicals are used to solve the multiple challenges
of water purification and elimination of pathogenic wastes. These are
almost all based upon a chemical model which uses a powerful, but dangerous
oxidative ‘punch’ to kill off potential disease carrying pathogenic contaminants.
BOCs approach the problem from an entirely new direction, where organic
contaminants are catalytically broken down to their fundamental elements.
This allows BOCs to replace or augment traditional chemicals, by its safe
and very effective cleaning agent, which presents no immediate danger
to the user, and doesn’t produce dangerous byproducts that present ongoing
risks to people and our environment.

3. Product innovation in terms of unique or
revolutionary technology?
The integration of solubilization, oxidation and catalysis (S - O - C)
provides for the first time a universally applicable biochemistry platform
that addresses the need for a complement to existing chemical and biological
processes, an ability to eliminate or substantially reduce toxicity in
waste management, and strong economic values in reducing waste management
treatment costs. The formulations work by creating a nearly instantaneous
catalytic breakdown of organic molecules, making them more readily digestible
by indigenous bio-organisms, as well as more rapidly oxidized by chemical
agents. Rather than attempting to break down specific organic elements,
as an enzyme would do, a broad cascading action is created, accelerating
biological degradation throughout the entire spectrum of organics contaminants.
This breakthrough technology provides many benefits throughout all aspects
of water treatment and cleaning applications. BOCs solubilize organic
materials, increasing the nutrient availability for indigenous bacteria
and reducing the volatile organics for odor control. BOCs improve aeration
efficiencies, thereby enhancing biological activity. BOCs accelerate ionic
interactions, helping inorganic oxidation reactions and making nutrients
more available to bacteria. BOCs activate biomass and increase biodegradation,
including petroleum hydrocarbons, within a shorter period of time, and
at a lower cost.
BOCs are the only cleaners that also accelerate the biodegrading of residues
being cleaned. The increased oxygen availability, higher dissolved oxygen
levels, and enhancement in the solubility of cellular material, lead to
significantly faster molecular interactions and creates an immediate catalyzing
effect on contaminants. This unique ability of BOCs to rapidly break down
organic contaminants leads to a whole new class of cleaning and remediation
agents, where contaminants are not only removed, they are also degraded
into their more fundamental components, and hence are more easily eliminated.

4. Product acceptance in the marketplace?
The acceptance of BOCs has been a challenge of identifying and exploiting
points of entry as the cleaning and wastewater treatment industries are
conservative and skeptical by nature, and where the engineering mindset
is to build. Our integrated (S-O-C) approach effectively utilizes solubilization
(physical), oxidation (chemical) and catalysis (biological) (S-O-C) is
a new and disruptive technology, bringing transformative culture and mindset
changes on the part of the marketplace participants.
Bio-Organic Catalyst, Inc. is partnering with long-time industry veterans
to enter the market, including the recognized industry experts. Ours is
a relationship-based business built on trust and comfort zones. Confidence
and word of mouth referrals are growing as BOCs are successfully solving
problems where current product options are unable to meet client requirements.
Market acceptance is now accelerating as the broader market demands for
practical and superior non-toxic chemical alternatives are coinciding
with greater demands upon wastewater discharges to meet higher levels
of regulatory compliance.

5. New product value-added services provided
to customers?
Cleaning and wastewater treatment have traditionally been seen as separate
and discreet management functions. With the introduction of BOCs, these
two fundamental aspects of environmental management can be integrated and
optimized. Because it's a new category of physical/ chemical/ biological
solutions, BOCs are "value-added" in that:
• they are a synergistic and integrated solution,
• they are concentrated, are potent and convenient, and work heavily
diluted in water,
• they are dose responsive, i.e.; increasing the dose increases the
effect.
In practice, equipment manufacturers can complement their system performance
with a biochemistry that enhances biological processing, thereby extending
the utility of existing equipment and facilities, linking formally isolated
components in a total life cycle improvement of waste treatment. Chemical
suppliers can complement their current product offerings with a synergistic
additive to enhance their performance capabilities, such as biofilm degradation,
and extend the benefits of their current product lines, develop new product/service
lines, and lower downstream issues of toxicity waste byproducts. Petroleum
hydrocarbon remediation, across many fields of economic activity, can
be linked to a general cleaning/washing procedure that will reduce costs,
and provide overall enhancement of total environmental quality control.

6. Number of competitors with similar products?
To date there are no competitors that deliver all three S- O- C values
in one solution. No other chemical or biological agents available today
have the broad range of benefits and safety features of BOCs. Traditional
chemicals, such as oxidation agents and polymers, are used extensively
in water treatment systems. However, they do not improve biological processing
rates. Biological additives have yet to develop any meaningful role in
wastewater treatment, due to their inherent limitations of time, temperature,
and safety to existing biological processes. Ozone, enhanced oxidation
systems, and high biological density media substrates (membranes) are
being used more extensively, and all should benefit from BOCs.
There are new product offerings constantly being brought to market that
are both non-toxic chemistries, and/or biological enhancement agents due
to the marketplace’s demand for solutions that work in more environmentally
friendly ways. However, it does not appear that anyone has combined the
synergistic and integrated characteristics of BOCs to date.
We welcome other firms joining us in valuing and honoring the relationships
that underlie all ecological systems. Bio-Organic Catalyst, Inc. has trademarked
a "Seal of Safety" program identifying our commitment to higher community
values of environmental stewardship. We want to share our “Seal of Safety”,
enabling users of Bio-Organic Catalyst’s cleaning product line to identify
themselves as making a commitment to their customers to be using "non-toxic
and safe" cleaning products that are harmless to "human, animal and marine
life". Let our work bring a better life to all life.
