& Loveless Formula X
The Formula X pump station was designed to keep maintenance outside of the wet well. For instance, the front heads of the pumps in the Formula X station are bolted to the base plate rather than being welded. This allows for the pump and suction pipe connection to be removed without entering the wet well. Speaking of the wet well, this station's split design access cover makes it possible to open just one side of the cover at a time, leaving the other side down to be used as an observation platform. Both sides can be lifted together as well, providing maximum access to the wet well.
Another notable feature of this station's exterior is the use of tamper resistant stainless steel screws on the manway entrance and enclosure. This helps to prevent unauthorized people from tampering with the equipment.
On the interior of the Formula X, you will find long-lasting, heavy-duty Smith & Loveless non-clog pumps. These vacuum primed pumps are designed so that priming does not take longer than 60 seconds under standard rated conditions. Once priming is completed, it is designed to stay primed indefinitely.
For high-trash pumping applications, Smith & Loveless has developed the X-Peller. The mono-port flow design of this impeller expels large amounts of stringy materials and debris. It is also excellent for low-flow applications (0 to 500 GPM). The X-Peller comes in 900, 1200 and 1800 RPM. This impeller is fully trimmable at the factory or in the field. It can be installed on Smith & Loveless 4" vacuum primed and flooded suction pumps.
Hydra-Numatic proposed this station as a solution for one of our customers who had an application in Delaware with conditions of 200 gallons per minute at 37.5 feet of total dynamic head. Their maximum allowable speed was 1170 RPM and the pump motors had to meet a minimum of 5 horsepower. The static suction lift was to be no more than 20 feet and the station had to be capable of passing 3 inch solids.
Our customer chose the Formula X station for this application for many reasons, primarily for the fact that this station includes as standard equipment so many items that are typically required. Features such as alternation, running time meters, surge and lightning arrestor, float back up for both pumps, NEMA 4 control system enclosure and high water alarm with silence and automatic reset are all standard on the Formula X. Our customer preferred an operator-interface microprocessor controller for use with a submersible pressure transducer to operate the pumps. The Formula X provides this as standard equipment as well.
Yet another reason for choosing the Formula X is it's impressive warranty. In addition to the Standard Industry Warranty, the Formula X Warranty covers the pump assembly (motor, adapter, impeller, volute and front head), fiberglass enclosure and base for 10 years. The Control System and mechanical seals are covered for 5 years. A copy of the actual warranty certificate is available for review by contacting Hydra-Numatic Sales.
Smith & Loveless has done it again. They've raised the standards for the entire industry. See for yourself, contact Hydra-Numatic for a comprehensive brochure packet on the Formula X Wet Well Mounted Pump Station.
